With members located throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Montana the Eastern Slopes Spaniel Association is dedicated to promoting Field Bred Spaniels and their use as working dogs.

About the Eastern Slopes Spaniel Association (ESSA)

On a fall weekend, you may run into one of our members hunting upland birds with their dogs or you may find them competing for ribbons in a field trial or hunt test.  ESSA hosts Sporting Spaniel field trials and hunt tests in accordance with Canadian Kennel Club rules and regulations.

Highlights of the Eastern Slopes Spaniel Association:

  • Dog club comprised of both male and female members dedicated to Field Bred Spaniels and their use as working dogs.

  • Provides instruction and advise to dog owners on both dog handling and proper gun safety.

  • Holds organized training sessions, Canadian Kennel Club field trials and hunt tests as well as informal events.

  • Field training conducted two to three times per week from April to October for all ages and abilities.

We welcome new members to our training sessions (usually located on grounds near Calgary, AB) and are always excited to help those new to the world of sporting spaniels. So whether you are a hunter or competitor we hope you enjoy our website. If you would like more information or would like to become a member of our club, please contact us through our "Contact Us" page or click on the "Become a member" button for an application form.
