Formal Events Schedule
In a typical year, the Eastern Slopes Spaniel Association hosts Approved Sporting Spaniel field trials and hunt tests which are open to all spaniel breeds with the exception of Brittany Spaniels and Irish Water Spaniels. Competitions are typically held in the late spring and early fall and competitors come to Southern Alberta from the United States and across Canada to see if their dog has what it takes to compete, excel and win or qualify.

2026 - Canadian National Amateur Championship *
As one of the first requirements to host a national championship, ESSA had submitted the required Letter of Intent. The formal vote for awarding the honour to host will occur later this year at the 2025 National Championship.
We are working in concert with the Prairie Spaniel Club who intend to host the Open National Championship in 2026.

We are very much looking forward to hosting this event for the spaniel community to allow the dogs to show everyone exactly what they can do.
